If you want to maximize your outdoor spaces this summer, they may need some upgrades. Here's what you can do.

Entertaining guests on the patio is a common weekend occurrence for our real estate agents, so we're always thinking about how to create the perfect outdoor oasis. Your outdoor living space is the perfect place to read, eat, or hang out with family in the summer, so you naturally want to make it as comfortable as possible.

There are so many ways you can upgrade your outdoor space this summer. If you're looking for some quick ideas, here are some tips:

  • Upgrade Your Seating
Seating is everything when it comes to the comfort of a patio or porch, so if you're looking for an easy way to enhance your space, upgraded seating is the way to go. A patio sofa, big comfy chairs, and a porch rocker are all good investments. Make sure your outdoor area has ample seating for guests. For inspiration, check out some of the beautifully staged patios at these Great Neck homes for sale.

  • Create Some Privacy
Good fences make good neighbors. Even if you get along with your next-door neighbor, it's still nice to create a bit of privacy for your outdoor space. Bushes and trees are an effective and visually appealing way to create privacy, but you can also invest in a nice privacy fence or screen on the side of your patio.

  • Enhance Your Lighting
New lighting is one of the best and most affordable ways to enhance your outdoor space. Spotlights in the yard, string lights over the patio, or LED lanterns along the sidewalk can all create a compelling look. The options are truly endless when it comes to lighting.

  • Find A Nice Patio Rug
Patio rugs serve as a great focal point for any outdoor setup, and they give you the ability to add your personality to the space. They can also make your outdoor area seem more inviting. Choose a design and color scheme that matches your taste and decor.

  • Deep Clean Every Surface
Your patio or porch isn't likely to stay clean for long, so periodic deep cleans throughout the summer are necessary. Temporarily remove your furniture, pull out the pressure washer and go to town. Make sure to also clean the cushions on your seating and wipe down any tables, surfaces, or windows.

  • Build A Fire Pit
A fire pit is the ultimate summertime gathering spot. Sitting around a fire with friends is the perfect way to spend a cool summer evening. You can easily create your own fire pit or buy one at a local hardware store. Just be sure to include comfortable seating!

  • Add A Fountain
Fountains are a key addition to any outdoor oasis. You can place one in the middle of your garden or even on your patio. They not only look great but can create a calming vibe. Fountains come in all kinds of shapes, designs, and sizes, so it's easy to find one that matches your home.

If you spend a lot of time outdoors, then making your space comfortable and welcoming is well worth the investment. Contact us today for more tips on how to improve your home's exterior.
